Life is better when we breathe.
Teenagers are faced with more pressure than we realize. Family dynamics, stressful social situations, and the demands of school or sports can create a perfect storm of anxiety, alienation and self-doubt. Up to 70 percent of teens say they're stressed out. Breathe Girls Groups employ stretching, meditation, and mindfulness exercises to help girls manage daily stressors, refocus, and feel present in the moment.
What is mindfulness?
When we practice mindfulness, we maintain a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surroundings. We keep our thoughts in the present, instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
Mindfulness also cultivates self-acceptance. We acknowledge our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment.
Mindfulness is a key component of our programs, and helps girls develop empathy, self-understanding, and connection.
